Historical Fiction

The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas - Wikipedia

Historical Fiction is basically real historical events used in a fictional setting for its story at the time. Lets say that the story is set in a time that we are very fond of and it could really be anything in history so lets say Gladiator, the story and setting take place years and years ago in the past but the actual movie most likely did not happen in the past, it was just made up in that time period to show what could've happen in that time.

To me when it comes to my thoughts on this genre, I feel that it is good to have books or even movies like this genre because when it comes to the past we only know what is taught to us or what we learn on our own. We can have the books and movies based in the past to give us an idea of what exactly could've happened back then.

"The Boy in the Striped Pajamas" tells the story of Bruno, a young German boy whose father is appointed as the commandant of a concentration camp during World War II, forcing Bruno to move to a desolate house near the camp where he befriends a Jewish prisoner named Shmuel, who wears striped pajamas, leading to a deep friendship despite their vastly different realities and Bruno's naivety about the horrors happening around him; ultimately, their friendship tragically ends when they attempt to cross the fence into the camp together, leading to their deaths in the gas chamber.
